The Position

Our Minnesota-based client is seeking to fill a Remote Accounting Manager role. The selected candidate will be responsible for the oversight of the accounting and financial reporting functions of the company. The Accounting Manager will report directly to the Controller.

Accounting Manager responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing all accounting operational functions.
  • Handling daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly tasks and responsibilities per policies and procedures which may include creating and posting journal entries, reconciliation of multiple general ledgers and cash positions.
  • Reviewing of security override reports, ACH and wire transfer transactions, member account corrections, recordkeeping for investment accrual and interest payments.
  • Managing direct reports to maximize productivity, efficiency, and the potential of the human assets of the company, including directing job assignments, monitoring staff performance, coaching, counseling, training, disciplining as necessary.
  • Managing all aspects of accounts payable.
  • Maintaining fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
  • Handling daily/weekly/monthly/annual government tax reporting requirements.
  • Effectively research, track and resolve accounting or documentation problems and discrepancies.
  • Reviewing fraud cases and investigate out of balance situations.
  • Referring members to the proper department for issues that cannot be resolved within your department.

You also bring the following skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
  • Five or more years of experience in corporate accounting.
  • Three or more years in a management capacity with supervisory responsibilities required.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Experience in a multi-entity environment, reconciling intercompany transactions, and consolidated financial reporting experience required.
  • Familiar with Jack Henry/Episys/Symitar is a plus.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel computer skills.
  • Must possess a proficient understanding of US GAAP.
  • Ability to multi-task and communicate effectively and professionally.
