The Position

Our client is seeking to fill an Agricultural / Commercial Lender role in the Galesburg, IL market. This position will be responsible for developing, building and maintaining an existing portfolio of agricultural and commercial loan accounts.  They will also be responsible for generation of revenue, profits, deposits, and plus other cross-selling opportunities.

The position includes a competitive salary up to $80K, excellent benefits program and is bonus eligible.

Agricultural / Commercial Lender responsibilities include:

  • Generating new loans per Loan Policy guidelines.
  • Active commercial loan portfolio management with the bank’s crop farming loans (some livestock)
  • Actively managing agricultural/commercial banking relationships through proactive customer contacts.
  • Fully developing agricultural/commercial relationships, preparing and maintaining account plans and sales maps for each assigned relationship and actively participating in weekly sales meetings.
  • Reviewing and analyzing customers’ financial documentation to determine viability of future business success.
  • Advising the customer of the advantages and disadvantages of the various loan products available as well as the requirements necessary to qualify for various loans.
  • Maintaining contact with customers to ensure compliance with loan terms and/or determine if any other financial assistance or advice is required.
  • Working within underwriting authority and exercise appropriate discretion daily to analyze loan prospects.
  • Approving or denying loans within assigned lending authority.
  • Actively participating in civic and public relations activities that provides new business for the bank and further development of relationships with existing customers.

You also bring the following skills and experience:

  • Bachelors’ degree in related field or equivalent experience required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Three or more years Commercial Banking or other relevant job experience.
  • An Agricultural degree is a plus.
  • An emphasis on crop lending, and some experience in livestock lending.
  • General understanding of building full banking relationships required.
  • Formal Credit Training
  • General understanding of bank lending principles required.
  • Proven ability to produce business development results and cross sales within a team environment with limited direction.
  • Strong sales background with advanced skills in client relations.
  • Must be highly responsive, achievement-oriented, results focused, and a team player.
