The Position

Our bank client is seeking to fill a Bank Accounting Manager role located in the Roswell, NM area. The position is responsible for performing complex accounting duties, troubleshooting daily balancing problems, and completing accounting financial transactions.

The opportunity has a generous salary of up to $100K and a benefits package. (This is not a remote position).

Bank Accounting Manager responsibilities include:

  • Handling daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly tasks and responsibilities per policies and procedures, including creating and posting journal entries, reconciliation of multiple general ledgers, and cash positions.
  • Reviewing of security override reports, ACH and wire transfer transactions, member account corrections, recordkeeping for investment accrual and interest payments.
  • Managing direct reports to maximize productivity, efficiency, and the potential of the company’s assets, including directing job assignments, monitoring staff performance, coaching, counseling, training, and disciplining as necessary.
  • Managing all aspects of accounts payable.
  • Maintaining fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
  • Handling daily/weekly/monthly/annual government tax reporting requirements.
  • Effectively research, track and resolve accounting or documentation problems and discrepancies.
  • Reviewing fraud cases and investigating out-of-balance situations.
  • Referring members to the proper department for issues that cannot be resolved within your department.
  • Other duties as assigned.

You also bring the following skills and experience:

  • A college degree in accounting is preferred. The equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.
  • Two or more years of related experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of financial and accounting practices and procedures.
  • Maintain up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge of products and services.
  • Ability to gain knowledge and learn about recognizing fraud and suspicious activity.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and grammar skills.
  • Ability to understand and apply financial concepts and add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Good working knowledge of word processing software, spreadsheet software, e-mail software, use of the Internet, and the ability to learn internal-use software.
