The Position

Our client is seeking to fill a Treasurer role to be based in the greater Maplewood, NJ market. The selected candidate will be responsible for corporate liquidity, investments, and risk management related to the company’s financial activities. Knowledge of SWIFT communications (Society of Worldwide Interbank Telecommunications) and understands Federal Regulation J that governs wire transfers through the Federal Reserve.  Comprehension of the federal regulations that govern the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) is also a requirement.

The position includes a generous salary of$135K+ and excellent benefits package.

Treasurer responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring portfolio analytics and cash flows and makes recommendations that work to achieve stated corporate goals.
  • Managing the liability side of the balance sheet.
  • Managing of interest rate risk.
  • Ensuring that sufficient funds are available to meet ongoing operational and capital investment requirements.
  • Using hedging to mitigate financial risks related to the interest rates on the company’s borrowings, as well as on its foreign exchange positions.
  • Maintaining correspondent banking relationships.
  • Participating in equity and debt financing.
  • Making recommendations on investment portfolio.
  • Monitoring the activities of third parties handling outsourced treasury functions on behalf of the bank.
  • Advising management on the liquidity aspects of its short- and long-range planning.
  • Maintaining a system of policies and procedures that impose an adequate level of control over treasury activities.
  • Participating as a member of governance committees: the following Asset Liability Committee (ALCO), Risk Committee; Management Information Systems Committee (MIS)
  • Developing and maintaining transfer pricing.
  • Developing and maintaining basic overhead allocation methodology.
  • Leading the budgetary process.
  • Developing and maintaining profitability reporting for lines of business.

You also bring the following skills and experience:

  • BA/BS degree in Business, Finance or related degree or equivalent.
  • Ten or more years of progressively responsible treasury experience.
  • Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) or Certified Cash Management (CCM) certification preferred.
  • Expertise in derivatives, hedging, investments, bank account management, and international funds flows.
  • High level of Treasury Management product knowledge and product innovation.
  • Knowledge of credit and operational risk-ability to quantify potential exposure.
  • Industry or vertical market expertise.
  • Strong knowledge of market/industry trends.
