The Position

Our client is seeking to fill a Banking Compliance Auditor role in the Seattle, WA market. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating the performance of internal audit examinations ensuring the timely and professional execution of the examinations in accordance with professional standards.

Banking Compliance Auditor responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in the development of an internal audit work plan and continuously improve the audit documents and procedures.
  • Planning and conducting moderate-to-complex audit engagements including risk assessments within the areas of operations, regulatory compliance and lending in accordance with the internal audit program.
  • Coordinating and communicating with appropriate personnel and levels of management for each area being audited.
  • Performing audit procedures to verify compliance with bank policies/procedures, federal and state statutes.
  • Performing audit procedures to verify the operational effectiveness of controls through appropriate testing procedures; identify control gaps and opportunities for improvement.
  • Documenting and mapping processes for areas of concern, identify issues and recommend corrective action plans.
  • Promptly preparing concise, unbiased formal written reports with value-added findings and recommendations to management and the Audit Committee.
  • Building and maintaining effective working relationships with all levels of management.
  • Tracking and conducting follow-up reviews of financial, operational or regulatory compliance deficiencies noted during audits.
  • Staying abreast of best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Conducting investigations of irregularities discovered by, or brought to, the auditor’s attention.
  • Performing other duties as required.

You also bring the following skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related discipline and with 5+ years of related experience and/or training, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Professional certifications such as CIA and CRCM are desirable.
  • Auditing experience in banking is required with strong working knowledge and performance of operations, compliance and lending audits (experienced with auditing consumer and commercial lending, including government-sponsored programs such as SBA, USDA, CALCAP, etc).
  • Ability to review and analyze financial data.
  • Knowledge of federal and state banking rules and regulations.
  • Ability to read and interpret statutes and regulations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to relate to individuals at all levels within the organization as well as with regulatory agencies and external contacts.
