The Position

Our bank client is seeking to fill a BSA Compliance Manager role to be based in Houston, TX market. The candidate is responsible for fulfilling the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) requirements through enhanced evaluation of customer relationships on behalf of the Bank for both new and existing customers.  Responsibilities also include performing enhanced due diligence on high-risk customers according to the Bank’s policy and procedures.

This position offers a generous salary of up to $130K plus bonus and a full benefits package. (This is not a remote position.)

BSA Compliance Manager responsibilities include:

  • Assessing the completeness and quality of “Know Your Customer” (KYC) documentation, per the BSA policy, for new and existing high-risk customers to ensure that required enhanced due diligence efforts and documentation are in accordance with applicable policies.
  • Maintaining oversight of the EDD risk model in an effort to identify higher-risk customers that warrant Enhanced Due Diligence.
  • Acting as the Subject Matter Expert by answering questions and mentoring analysts in the department.
  • Continually providing feedback on policies and procedures as needed for the handling of new and open high-risk relationships, to include the proper method to evaluate such relationships and to escalate any red flags and/or recommend account closure if deemed necessary.
  • Working cooperatively with business lines to evaluate the risks associated with new and existing high-risk customers through enhanced due diligence review to include recommendations of the risk mitigation strategies.
  • Actively ensuring compliance with the Bank’s Code of Ethics and all AML, BSA, information security, and suspicious activity reporting requirements, policies, and procedures.
  • Actively participate in any required corporate and business line training in these areas. Follow account opening procedures and understand and follow internal suspicious activity referral requirements and processes, as required for this position.
  • Remaining current on legal and regulatory BSA/AML requirements and actions.
  • Assisting the BSA AML Risk Manager with preparing and sending annual letters and questionnaires out to customers identified as higher risk.
  • Completing the required BSA/AML training and other compliance training as assigned.
  • Performing any other related duties as required or assigned.

You also bring the following skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance and accounting from a four-year college or university required.
  • Five years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • CAMS/CRCM Certification preferred.
  • Experience with State and FDIC.
  • Extensive knowledge of BSA/AML laws and regulations.
  • Proficient in PC software such as Excel, Word, and Access.
  • Excellent attention to detail and emphasis on accuracy.
  • Excellent communication skills: verbal, listening, and written.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, set priorities, meet deadlines, and resolve highly complex financial problems.
