The Position

Our bank client seeks to fill a Business Development Officer role in the Los Angeles, CA area. The selected candidate will be responsible for originating and generating new loans, deposits, and cross-sell other financial products/services.

This position includes a generous salary of up to $150K plus bonus and excellent benefits package. (This is not a remote position).

Business Development Officer responsibilities include:

  • Soliciting, negotiating, and coordinating the closing of consumer/commercial loans in compliance with the Bank’s lending policies and procedures.
  • Establishing and growing a book of profitable business, targeting sales opportunities and selling to new customers with a focus on business operating accounts, C&I loans, CRE, SBA, and Mortgage loans.
  • Cross-selling other products and services offered across the bank.
  • Promoting business for the Bank by maintaining good customer relations and referring customers to appropriate staff for new services.
  • Developing business checking and deposit relationships with customers.
  • Conducting pre-screening analysis and preparing written presentations for submittal to management according to Bank’s lending guidelines, when requested.
  • Representing the Bank in various business, civic, and community functions to enhance the Bank’s image and grow the business.
  • Interact with Bank colleagues to discuss prospects/referrals and formulate sales strategies.
  • Document all calling activity and provide weekly reports to Chief Lending Officer (CLO).
  • Other duties and responsibilities assigned by the supervisor.

You also bring the following skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Finance is preferred.
  • Three or more years of experience in originating and underwriting commercial loans, including commercial term loans, line of credit, and deposits with a track record of business development.
  • Bilingual (English/Mandarin) is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Extensive knowledge of loan origination with strong business development skills.
  • PC proficient in Word and Excel.
