The Position

Our client is seeking to fill a Business Development Officer role in the Jersey City, NJ  market. The successful candidate will be responsible for examining, evaluating, and authorizing or recommending approval of new business developments, as well as customer applications for commercial loans

The position includes a generous salary of up to $140K and an excellent benefits package.

Business Development Officer responsibilities include:

  • Developing and expanding new banking relationships with business prospects and maintaining existing business banking client base to achieve established goals.
  • Meeting assigned loan production goals in deposits, loans, fee income, and new business revenues.
  • Analyzing applicant financial status, credit, and property evaluation to determine feasibility of granting loan or submit application to credit analyst for verification and recommendation.
  • Suggesting products to new customers and cross selling bank products and services to existing customers.
  • Advising loan manager of external factors that may affect establishment lending policies, such as new or revised legislation and regulations. Recommending and implementing appropriate changes to establishment policies and procedures.
  • Performing all aspects of financial analysis, underwriting and loan structuring on new and existing customers.
  • Evaluating credit information and requests, as well as recommending appropriate loan structure to manage risk.
  • Administering an effective cross-reference file listing names of prospects contacted by branch managers and the specific results of such calls.
  • Interfacing with Relationship Managers, Credit Officers, and product specialists as required.

You also bring the following skills and experience:

  • B.S. /B.A. in Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, Economics or similar discipline required.
  • Three or more years’ experience in Commercial Lending.
  • Formal credit training preferred.
  • Ability to sell effectively to prospects and clients.
  • Ability to read and analyze financial statements and tax returns.
  • Working knowledge of personal computers to include MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
