The Position

Our bank client is seeking to fill a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) role in the Akron, OH market. This position is the CFO of the bank overseeing all the bank’s accounting functions. The selected candidate will be responsible for all financial and fiscal management aspects of bank operations including accounting and controls, regulatory reporting, financial analysis, and management reporting. We are searching for someone who is both a strategic visionary and a day-to-day leader.

This position offers a competitive salary of up to $115K and a full benefits package.

Chief Financial Officer responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing all financial and accounting functions and staff within the Bank to include ALM, AP, AR, budgets, G/L, financial analysis, financial reporting and recordkeeping, investments, and all related functions.
  • Providing strategic financial input and leadership on decision-making issues and initiatives affecting the organization.
  • Managing the interest rate risk of the balance sheet along with chairing the Asset/Liability Committee.
  • Overseeing and managing the Bank’s investment portfolio that provides liquidity and safety while optimizing earnings.
  • Developing and maintaining budgeting systems to provide financial projections and control expenditures and recommending budget policies and procedures.
  • Monitoring bank performance in regard to the annual budget.
  • Coordinating the funding for the institution and monitor the liquidity and cash position of the Bank.
  • Analyzing financial information, cash flow, market data, and industry trends to determine effective cost-effective measures and pricing strategies to increase profits.
  • Establishing and maintaining strong financial controls to manage operational expenses.
  • Coordinating the preparation of financial statements, reports, and tax filings.
  • Responding to audit findings and formulating and implementing solutions to rectify issues.
  • Providing strategic business guidance with department heads.
  • Developing proposals for alternatives to funding and spending decisions to make optimal use of funding alternatives.
  • Determine industry trends and respond to changes in the market to maintain profitability.
  • Assisting in the design, implementation, and timely calculations of wage incentives, commissions, and salaries for the staff.
  • Member of ALCO, IT Committee & attending all Audit Committee meetings.
  • Interfacing with the banking industry and the community.

You also bring the following skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting from a four-year college or university required.
  • Six years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficient in PC software such as Excel, Word, and Access.
  • Excellent attention to detail and emphasis on accuracy.
  • Excellent communication skills: verbal, listening, and written.
  • Familiarity with Jack Henry, Fedline – EUAC, United Bankers Bank Portal, FDIC Connect a plus.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, set priorities, meet deadlines, and resolve highly complex financial problems.
