The Position

Our client is seeking to fill a Chief Information Systems Officer in the North Vernon, IN area. The candidate will devise the IT department strategy and ensure that all systems necessary to support its operations and objectives are in place. This individual has overall responsibility for the Bank’s Information Systems and Deposit Service functions.

Chief Information Systems Officer responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing, leading, and managing the overall Information Technology department by establishing goals, objectives, and operating procedures.
  • Leading IT strategic and operational planning to achieve business goals by fostering innovation, prioritizing IT initiatives, and coordinating the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future IT systems across the organization.
  • Exercising direct and indirect supervision over Information Systems and Deposit Services personnel.
  • Through delegated authority, assumes overall responsibility for Deposit Services including imaging, ACH, and wire transfer.
  • Responsible for the Bank’s telecommunication systems, both voice, and data and the Internet and Intranet systems.
  • Establishing disaster recovery policies and procedures for the information systems function(s).
  • Maintaining and facilitating compliance as well as updates to the Bank’s Microcomputer and Electronic Access Device Policy.
  • Serving as Chair for the Bank’s Technology Steering Committee with responsibility for the Committee meeting agenda, minutes, and any related materials.
  • Controlling and facilitating the enhancement requests between the Bank and the core processor.
  • Maintaining third party technology-related maintenance agreements between the Bank and vendors.
  • Preparing department budgets and projections including annual capital investment budget and five-year rolling project and projection.
  • Ensuring appropriate administrative, physical, and technical safeguards are in place to protect the organization’s information assets from internal and external threats.
  • Installing, modifying, enhancing, and maintaining data system security software.
  • Advising senior management on the latest technology and recommending appropriate action as the technical advisor.
  • Staying abreast of the latest industry security practices and technologies.
  • All other reasonable duties as assigned.

You also bring the following skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or Information Technology.
  • CISA, CISM or CISSP certification preferred.
  • Five or more years of progressive experience in the Information Security and banking industry.
  • Proven experience in IT planning, organization, and designing, and development in a banking environment.
  • Knowledge of bank operations.
  • Ability to coach teams effectively and delegate effectively.
  • Knowledge of Fed Line, WireXchange, FHLBI, PNC, Fiserv, Partnercare, FDICconnect (except for the exchange of exam-related files).
  • Ability to communicate security-related concepts to a broad range of technical and non-technical staff.
  • Acting as a bridge between IT and business process owners.
  • Exceptionally self-motivated, directed, excellent attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
