The Position

Our bank client is seeking to fill a Chief Loan Officer role in the Sidney, OH area. The successful candidate will proactively assist, mentor, and provide support to the Senior Lenders, the Senior Credit Officer, and the Loan Operations Officer.

The position offers a generous salary of up to $200K and a full benefits package. (This is not a remote position).

Chief Loan Officer responsibilities include:

  • Providing oversight and actively engaging in the commercial loan submission, underwriting processes, and decisions of deals.
  • Working closely with and keeping the CEO and Senior Management informed on all major issues within the Sales and Credit teams.
  • Helping prepare executive reporting and actively communicating with Board, underwriting team, and business development team to support a transparent approach to credit risk management.
  • Helping monitor lending portfolio credit quality on an ongoing basis to detect and respond to deterioration or improvements in loan quality.
  • Having individual loan authority as well as being a member of the bank’s Officer Loan Committee.
  • Assisting sales and underwriting teams in structuring commercial loan transactions, including terms, risk evaluation, covenants, and pricing.
  • Helping Senior Lender manage the internal sales team responsible for processing inbound referral calls on niche loan applications/products.
  • Meeting with larger customers as required to assess credit risk and provide expertise.
  • Assisting with any TDRs (trouble debt restructure) and/or loan work-out activities.
  • Engaging with external examiners and auditors including the FDIC, ODFI, and external credit review to ensure thorough and accurate communication of bank loan portfolio risk.
  • Other duties as assigned.

You also bring the following skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Five or more years of loan administration experience.
  • Solid knowledge of commercial credit policies and procedures, and bank operations policies and procedures.
  • Good credit analysis and accounting skills.
  • Familiar with lending and credit quality and regulations.
  • Maintains the highest level of confidentiality with all information obtained.
  • Ability to build positive relationships within the bank and capable of establishing professional expertise through integrity, dedication, and strategic counsel.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; must be able to convey complex concepts in a clear and concise manner.
