The Position

Our client is seeking to fill a C&I Lending Manager  role in the Birmingham, AL market. This selected candidate will be responsible for overseeing a team of relationship managers. They shall also be responsible for business development, client management and reviewing all proposals for the team. Management duties will include development of staff, driving sales and assisting with difficult or large clients.

C&I Lending Manager  responsibilities include:

  • Motivating, guiding and directing relationship managers to contribute to their maximum to the realization of the bank’s regional goals and objectives.
  • Originating new loan business through calls and visits to existing and prospective customers, site visits/inspections, and meetings.
  • Expanding existing relationships to create additional business.
  • Coordinating, participating in, preparing, and conducting meetings related to lending practices, credit quality, strategic planning, etc.
  • Actively participating in community functions by volunteering for civic functions, serving on boards, task forces, etc.
  • Informing executive/senior management of the performance of the region in regards to all departments.
  • Developing short and long term goals for the region, as well as participating in other strategic planning.
  • Interviewing loan applicants, analyzing financial and related data to establish credit worthiness; establishing and negotiating credit terms, and monitoring customers’ credit.
  • Monitoring outstanding loans and taking necessary collection actions on past dues.
  • Monitoring staff in daily tasks, operations, and quality control.
  • Providing for appropriate department staffing.
  • Conducting employee performance reviews, and handling personnel issues.

You also bring the following skills and experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree is required; Finance, Accounting or advanced degree is preferred.
  • Ten or more years’ banking experience in lending
  • Managerial experience.
  • Ability to travel to various locations to visit customers.
  • Ability to establish goals and motivate staff to meet those goals.
  • Strong business development, customer relations, and decision-making skills are essential.
  • Excellent communication skills required for major contact with customers, board members, and executive management.
  • Extensive knowledge of lending services and related areas. Five or more years’ experience in commercial credit analysis and/or loan review or equivalent educational experience.
  • Formal Credit Training preferred.
  • Working knowledge of financial analysis and accounting theory, and the ability to write clearly, logically, and analytically.
