The Position

Our bank client is seeking to fill a Commercial Lender role in the Lake Charles, LA area. The successful candidate will maintain a loan portfolio, build relationships, ensure customer satisfaction, timely follow-up on renewals and delinquencies. The candidate will solicit new deposit and loan business and referrals that meet established lending requirements and provide maximum profitability to the bank at minimum risk.

The position offers a generous salary of up to $135K + bonus and a full benefits package. (This is not a remote position).

Commercial Lender responsibilities include:

  • Developing new and maintaining existing customer relationships by calling on businesses, professional groups, high net worth individuals, and existing customers.
  • Developing new business by contacting prospects and customers, cross-selling bank services.
  • Approving loans with a legal loan limit according to Bank policy.
  • Handling the more complex and substantial department loans.
  • Collecting and analyzing information that reflects the current creditworthiness of customers and the current merits of existing loans.
  • Establishing, and negotiating where necessary, terms under which credit will be extended, including the costs, repayment method, and schedule and collateral requirements.
  • Interviewing loan applicants and collecting and analyzing financial and related data to determine the general creditworthiness of the prospect and the merits of the specific loan request.
  • Monitoring loan repayment activities and take necessary action to collect from past-due accounts.
  • Advising customers, where possible, concerning business management and financial matters.
  • Performing other duties that may be assigned by Management.

You also bring the following skills and experience:

  • College degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or related area.
  • ten years of lending experience with management training and bank-related courses.
  • Five years of experience at operating a personal computer including Microsoft Word and Excel software.
  • Broad knowledge of the lending function.
  • Possess a high level of analytical skills to assess and evaluate the operation of subordinate areas of responsibility.
  • Must possess management and supervisory skills.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills, human relation skills, and organizational skills.
