The Position

Our client is seeking to fill a Commercial Loan Documentation Specialist – CRE role in the Northbrook, IL market. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing administrative support and completing financial analysis for the Commercial Real Estate Lending Department by collecting and assessing customer financial information.

Commercial Loan Documentation Specialist – CRE responsibilities include:

  • Book new business loans and information into the core system.
  • Process loan payments, payoffs, line advances and wire transfers as needed.
  • Process paid loans and release collateral.
  • Follow-up and maintain UCC tickler system and verify our lien priority.
  • Assist in ordering of appraisals, title policies, credit reports, filing deeds of trust.
  • File and monitor incoming loan documentation.
  • Maintains both Credit and Collateral files.
  • Responsible for review of loan files to ensure collateral perfection.
  • Monitor delinquent tax and lapsed insurance notifications and perform follow-up.
  • Maintain tickler system in loan administration system.
  • Act as a backup for questions regarding business products and services.
  • Ability to load loan requests into the loan doc system to produce documents for signing.
  • Ability to analyze information from tax returns and financial statements
  • Help prepare and monitor various internal reports.
  • Prepare and send out requests to member businesses for new financial and insurance information on a yearly basis.
  • Ability to produce preliminary disclosures for real estate loans as required using the loan documentation system.
  • Answer inbound calls from member businesses including requests for loans.
  • Working knowledge of commercial loans and loan support is a necessity.
  • Ability to interact in a courteous and professional manner with other departments within the credit .union, vendors, outside visitors and by phone.
  • Maintain strict adherence to established security procedures.
  • Maintain knowledge of all state and federal regulations that are applicable to the transactions performed.
  • Implement and maintain operational procedures to maximize efficiency and ensure proper documentation.
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned.

You also bring the following skills and experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Prior training and experience in accounting or finance, as a collateral administrator, credit analyst or underwriter desired but not necessary
  • Two or more years’ experience in a bank or financial services environment.
  • Experience in commercial loan processing required.
  • Experience in commercial lending analysis of business financial statements preferred.
  • Experience in commercial loan document preparation preferred.
  • Ability to pay attention to the details and make a conscious effort to understand causes instead of effects, in a second nature.
  • Thorough understanding of the funding process.
  • Ability to negotiate structure and monitor funding transactions and ability to communicate clearly, to think and act independently and to know when to ask for guidance from more experienced officers.
  • Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Safeguarding confidential and protected information covered by privacy law and company policy.
  • Must work independently and as a member of team.
