The Position

Our client is seeking to fill a Commercial Market Leader role in the Louisville, KY market. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all phases of the market location, to include providing positive, proactive and consistent leadership, direction, public representation, and guidance of the company’s sales and service, lending programs, other products and services to assure short and long-range profitability and planned growth for the Commercial Lending Division.

This position offers a generous salary of up to $120K, a full benefits package and is bonus eligible.

Commercial Market Leader responsibilities include:

  • Formulating, supervising and implementing the annual Commercial and Retail Sales business plans for the division consistent with the goals and objectives of the bank.
  • Growing and maintaining a commercial loan portfolio which conforms to the credit quality standards of the bank.
  • Working with the Credit Underwriting group to facilitate the accuracy and soundness in the underwriting of commercial business loans.
  • Ensure that an ongoing evaluation system is in place related to the goals and objectives set forth in the Commercial Banking business plan.
  • Managing large or complex commercial loans (CRE & C&I) as needed, and counseling loan customers on loan management and beneficial financial strategies.
  • Mentoring, monitoring, and coaching Commercial Loan Officers to build referral networks and meet sales goals.
  • Providing training, motivation, and evaluation to staff in conjunction with the Human Resources Department of the Bank.
  • Verifying the accuracy of business loan amounts and repayment terms on approved loan applications.
  • Directing marketing personnel to establish the bank’s marketing strategies and coordinating their activities with the Bank’s Marketing Department.
  • Managing relationships with commercial banking clients by providing service and support.
  • Recommending compensation adjustments to staff consistent with the Bank’s compensation plan.
  • Delegating duties and responsibilities consistent with their goals and objectives, allowing achievement of those goals and objectives.
  • Keeping abreast of economic trends, market conditions, and regulatory standards. Proactively assesses how changes may impact the Bank.
  • Representing the Bank in community/economic development activities and initiatives. Ensuring Bank visibility in all aspects of the community.

You also bring the following skills and experience:

  • Must have a Louisville-based book of commercial loan business!
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required.  MBA preferred.
  • Three or more years of previous Commercial Lending experience.
  • Two or more years in a leadership role running a sales channel.
  • Strong business development and credit risk assessment skills.
  • Must have a proven track record in business development.
  • Knowledge of bank regulations pertaining to commercial lending.
  • Solid knowledge of relevant PC software applications, such as Word and Excel.
  • Articulate and comfortable in communicating with all levels in a bank organization and with external customers.
  • A successful track record – having a proven performance record as evidenced through solid financial performance, risk management and success of staff.
