The Position

Our client is seeking to fill a Consumer Loan Compliance Officer role in the Chicago, IL market. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing and administering all aspects of the Bank’s CRA and Fair Lending Compliance Programs. Drives the Bank’s strategy for the promotion, enhancement, and oversight of these programs. Assists the Corporate Risk Officer and the Compliance Officer with managing the Bank’s CRA and Fair Lending risk and reporting to executive management on the progress and status of CRA and Fair Lending-related objectives and initiatives.

The position includes a salary of up to $80K and excellent benefits package.

Consumer Loan Compliance Officer responsibilities include:

  • Assisting the Corporate Risk Officer and the Compliance Officer with managing the Bank’s CRA and Fair Lending risk and reporting to executive management on the progress and status of CRA and Fair Lending-related objectives and initiatives.
  • Monitoring policies, procedures, and practices to ensure adherence to CRA reporting requirements and to federal and state regulations related to Fair Lending.
  • Conducting the Bank’s annual CRA and Fair Lending self-assessments and report results to executive management.
  • Maintaining the Bank’s CRA Public File.
  • Identifying and validating all applicable loans related to CRA and Community Development.
  • Preparing periodic analysis and reporting of CRA Investments, Services, and Loans for the bank.
  • Developing and implement CRA and Fair Lending training for all employees, officers, and directors as applicable to individual roles and responsibilities.
  • Assisting bankers in identifying community development loans, outreach activities, and community development service events.
  • Performing fair lending sampling to detect violations or potential violations; identifying root causes of any violations and working with the management and affected staff to create effective corrective measures.
  • Coordinating and communicating with federal regulatory agency examiners during CRA and Fair Lending examinations.
  • Keeping up-to-date with evolving bank laws and regulations that affect CRA and Fair Lending practices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

You also bring the following skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Four or more years’ experience in regulatory consumer compliance; CRA and Fair Lending experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of the Community Reinvestment Act and Fair Lending regulations, including HMDA, ECOA, and Fair Housing Act.
  • Must possess attention to detail, accuracy in work performed, and can multi-task while maintaining focus.
  • Excellent PC skills required; must demonstrate the ability to mentor/coach other team members while completing own work at a high level.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite of products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; experience using bank core application systems to research customer files.
