The Position

Our client is seeking to fill a Director of Commercial Banking role in the greater San Jose, CA market. This position is responsible manages the commercial banking officer team and all related activities. Oversees the commercial banking officers and manage their performance to goal. This position will also manage and grow a portfolio of Commercial Loans.

The position includes a generous salary of up to $155K, full benefits package and is bonus eligible.

Director of Commercial Banking responsibilities include:

  • Managing and developing Commercial Banking Officers by conducting regular “One on One” meetings to provide feedback on performance and goals; providing training and guidance on managing existing portfolio and developing new business.
  • Analyzing and underwriting credit request and memos for approval. Researching market conditions and proper due diligence on all loan requests.
  • Managing and grow a commercial loan portfolio of current bank relationships with Community Banking commercial customers.
  • Deep understanding of all relevant commercial banking compliance regulations.
  • Sourcing prospects and developing new customer relationships, as well as providing financial advice to customers.
  • Selling appropriate bank products and services to those prospects and clients.

You also bring the following skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, or equivalent work experience.
  • Five or more years’ commercial lending and team management experience.
  • Strong client management and business development/sales skills.
  • Rich knowledge of credit and credit quality.
  • Thorough knowledge of traditional bank products and services.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals and groups in managing customer relationships.
  • Excellent presentation, verbal and written communication skills.
  • A comprehensive understanding of the complete commercial lending process with an emphasis on processing and closing functions.
  • Possess exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly across all lines of business while handling multiple priorities are mandatory.
