The Position

Our client is seeking to fill a Director of Retail Banking role in the Davenport, IA market. The successful candidate shall be responsible for setting the branch sales and operations strategy to support growth and market stability. Manages a team of leaders that oversees multiple branches in the management of sales, service, security, and compliance security. As a senior leader of the organization ensures the overall strategic plan is fulfilled through the retail delivery channel.

The position includes a generous salary of up to $110K plus bonus along with a full benefits package. (This is not a remote position.)

Director of Retail Banking responsibilities include:

  • Setting the strategy for branch staffing, training and development, coaching, performance management, and incentive design.
  • Building strong internal collaboration with the mortgage, business lending, and investment lines of business to achieve consistent go-to-market messaging.
  • Leading and directing all sales and service activities of the retail bank.
  • Providing coaching, development, motivation, and support to the branch managers in your region.
  • Ensuring that the unmatched support resources that the bank provides to customer-facing staff are efficiently utilized.
  • Ensuring that bank policies and standard operating procedures are consistently and uniformly applied by all associates.
  • Instilling a strong customer service acumen in all staff members and leaders.
  • Training team members on all retail deposit/loan products.
  • Conducting Regional Manager and Branch Manager meetings and maintains a high-level communication within the bank
  • Resolving personnel issues by working with the assigned human resources personnel to ensure resolution within established procedures and guidelines.
  • Evaluating performance on a constant basis, providing counseling and guidance as needed; annually prepare formal written performance appraisals in an honest and impartial manner, recommending salary increases and promotions as appropriate.
  • Developing a thorough understanding of company policies and procedures as they relate to this position.
  • Complying with all company policies and procedures and all job-related state and federal laws and regulations.

You also bring the following skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience managing all levels of branch staff through the development of skills, performance management, and coaching.
  • Proven accomplishment in growing deposits, accounts, and consumer loan portfolio for a multi-region financial retail organization.
  • Experience successfully collaborating with business partners to promote other lines of business.
  • Experience leading process improvement efforts resulting in efficiencies and productivity gains.
  • Proven ability to independently organize work, balance multiple priorities, and manage a variety of projects in a high-volume work environment with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, problem-solving skills, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to use independent judgment and discretion in various situations while maintaining a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Must have, or be able to attain, a National Mortgage Licensing System registration (NMLS#) and be licensed, or be able to attain licensure, to sell credit insurance.
