The Position

Our bank client is seeking to fill a Fiduciary Tax Manager role in the Indianapolis, IN area. The successful candidate will oversee the preparation and review of fiduciary income tax returns and Forms 1099 including but not limited to organizing, scrubbing, preparing, reconciling, and tracking tax preparation progress to ensure timely completion and filing of tax returns and payment of tax liabilities.

The position includes a generous salary of up to $150K, relocation assistance available, and an excellent benefits package. (This is not a remote position).

Fiduciary Tax Manager responsibilities include:

  • Providing direct oversight of the high-volume tax preparation function for the Wealth Management Division by supervising professional staff.
  • Supervising and managing professional tax staff to ensure Culture of Excellence standards.
  • Overseeing determination of quarterly tax estimates for all trust accounts administered by the Bank.
  • Managing tax preparation procedures and processes and reviewing or preparing fiduciary income tax returns and Forms 1099 for trust and agency accounts.
  • Preparation of fiduciary income tax returns, Forms 1099, federal estate tax returns, gift tax returns for decedents, date of death valuations of securities and cost basis adjustments, and individual income tax returns for decedents and/or other beneficiaries.
  • Overseeing preparation and review of federal estate tax returns and gift tax returns for Decedents.
  • Overseeing preparation and review of date of death valuations of securities and cost basis adjustments.
  • Overseeing miscellaneous tax administration needs, such as setting up new account tax information within the systems, applying for EINs, responding to tax notices, and addressing system issues related to tax reporting.
  • Ensuring that clients receive the highest quality of service, and that the Division’s reputation is sustained at a superior level.
  • Assisting with the determination of and charging tax preparation fees.
  • Serving as a consultative resource regarding tax planning or tax issues impacting accounts.

You also bring the following skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent education and work experience; CPA is strongly preferred.
  • Five years of experience preparing a high volume of increasingly more complex individual, corporate, and/or fiduciary tax returns, with emphasis placed on fiduciary tax return preparation.
  • Proven experience managing processes and people, preferably in a tax-focused or similar environment.
  • Proven verbal and written communication skills, with strong emphasis placed on responsiveness and customer service skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, exhibiting a high degree of professionalism.
  • High level of initiative, and the ability to work with minimal direct supervision.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
