The Position

Our bank client is seeking to fill a Human Resources Assistant role located in the Schaumburg, IL area. The selected candidate will provide administrative support and assist the department with various projects. The candidate will complete all facets of payroll processing in a timely and efficient manner.

This position offers a generous salary of up to $55K and full benefits package.

Human Resources Assistant responsibilities include:

  • Assisting the department with daily Human Resources functions and duties.
  • Providing clerical and administrative support to the department.
  • Maintaining payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering data.
  • Liaison between the department and employees, ensuring effective communication and prompt resolution of Human Resources and Payroll related inquiries.
  • Updating payroll changes by entering changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and personnel transactions.
  • Maintaining and managing all payroll files and records and maintaining employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Preparing reconciliations and resolving payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
  • Managing new hire paperwork and onboarding process.
  • Recruitment: post jobs, screen and interview applicants.
  • Benefits administration: process, update and reconciles employee benefits.
  • Answering employee’s HR questions in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Completing annual training to ensure skills and regulatory knowledge is up to date.

You also bring the following skills and experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management or related field preferred.
  • One or more years of general human resources experience required.
  • One or more years of payroll processing experience required.
  • Banking experience not required.
  • SHRM or HRCI human resources certification preferred.
  • Professional Payroll certification preferred.
  • Proficient with HRIS (human resources information systems) and proficient with ATS (applicant tracking systems).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Sound judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Customer-focused attitude, with a high level of professionalism and discretion.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and report writing.
