The Position

Our bank client is seeking to fill a Human Resources Generalist role in the Chicago, IL area. The selected candidate will assist the Director of HR with all HR-related activities.

This position offers a competitive salary of up to $65K and a full benefits package. (This is not a remote position.)

Human Resources Generalist responsibilities include:

  • Delivering front-line HR support to managers and employees in a highly responsive, service-oriented environment.
  • Partnering with management to communicate various Human Resources policies, procedures, laws, standards, and government regulations.
  • Coordinating and communicating with other HR team members to exchange information, share resources, and ensure coverage of each area.
  • Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with employees and managers.
  • Answering front-line benefits and payroll questions from employees.
  • Assisting with Payroll and Benefits as needed and will provide backup for this role.
  • Assisting with an audit by gathering requested information, reviewing with Director, and submitting in a timely manner.
  • Reviewing applications and resumes to match experience with specific job-related
  • requirements.
  • Interviewing, screening, and recruiting job applicants to fill entry-level, professional, and technical job openings with the direction Director.
  • Conducting exit interviews and analyzing data and providing feedback to the management team.
  • Ability to investigate and respond to less complex employee relations issues such as attendance and punctuality and performance issues initially.
  • Processing unemployment claims.
  • Ability to coordinate worker’s compensation through assigned vendors with minimal assistance.
  • Facilitating and/or providing human resources-related training (including orientation) to the team members.
  • Assisting with all government reporting and required notices.
  • Becoming proficient in HR-related regulations at the state and federal level and keeping current with new developments.

You also bring the following skills and experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, or a related field.
  • Three or more years of experience in Human Resources in positions demonstrating increased responsibility levels.
  • Background in employment law and other government compliance regulations is preferred.
  • Exercise initiative and sound judgment in proactively managing HR-related topics.
  • Ability to objectively coach employees and management through complex, difficult, and emotional issues with little assistance from senior human resources management.
  • Ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues by using judgment that is consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulation, or government law.
  • Superior communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent follow-up and follow-through skills.
