The Position

Our client is seeking to fill an Information Security Specialist role located in the Milwaukee, WI market. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring organizational compliance to policies and procedures, and assists the Security Analyst in implementing information security and disaster recovery programs.

Information Security Specialist responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing daily logs and communicating issues of concern to IS Security Analyst.
  • Reviewing alerts from security appliances and investigating suspicious activity.
  • Working with Hardware team regarding any malware-related activity.
  • Assisting IS Security Analyst with all aspects of vulnerability management.
  • Providing input and assisting IS Security Analyst with mapping existing controls to industry standards (NCUA, FFIEC, SANS, PCI-DSS, SOX, etc) and formalizing processes and documentation.
  • Assisting IS Security Analyst in audits and assessments.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

  • Associate’s degree (or current enrollment in an A.S. program) in Computer Science or Information Systems.
  • A demonstrated understanding of, or coursework related to the following Information Security concepts and principles: Confidentiality/Integrity/Availability; Risk Management, Defense in Depth, Data Classification, Access Control, and Incident Response.
  • A demonstrated understanding of, or coursework relate to the following Information Security controls: Logging, Firewalls, IDS/IPS, Vulnerability scanning, Anti-virus, and Malware removal.
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP and common ports and protocols.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of network topologies and protocols.
