The Position

Our community bank client is seeking to fill a Loan Operations Manager role in the Fargo, ND market. The successful candidate will be responsible for overall loan operations management and oversight of the mortgage, consumer, leasing and commercial loan operation staff. They are also responsible for ensuring daily operations are conducted, as well as formulating loan policies and practices for management review and approval.

This position offers a generous target salary of up to $85K and a full benefits package.

Loan Operations Manager responsibilities include:

  • Leading and directing the activities of the Loan Operations Department personnel, ensuring all processing deadlines and service standards are met.
  • Interviews and hires Loan Operations staff; determines work priorities; schedules work assignments; orients, trains, and evaluates work performance; and provides ongoing recognition, mentoring, coaching, and counseling.
  • Ensuring compliance with policies and procedures and federal and state laws.
  • Maintaining and demonstrating proficiency with loan software applications (Fiserv, Image Now)
  • Working with system providers to utilize applications to the fullest capacity, streamlining processes and procedures, ensuring accuracy and compliance. Analyzing, preparing and training for periodic updates to system software, and verifying that enhancements are working correctly. Assisting with system parameters and design to meet the needs of multiple departments. Managing user security access.
  • Preparing financial budgets, ensures compliance/achievement of a financial plan, and analyzes budget information for comparison of actual to plan.
  • Producing management reports associated with loan servicing such as productivity reports, trend reports, accrual and fee accounting, progress reporting, etc.
  • Resolving credit policy issues identified internally or by the regulators by coordinating due diligence efforts with bank personnel.
  • Resolving complex and sensitive loan operations and customer servicing issues.
  • Representing Loan Operations in meetings with branches, account officers, and department managers.
  • Keeping abreast of new and changing technologies within the loan services arena. Serving on committees that involve technological and system change and collaborates with others in the Bank to research and review proposals.
  • Developing, achieving and delivering loan operations service standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

You also bring the following skills and experience:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Some college background strongly preferred, business or related degree is a plus
  • Three or more years Loan Operations management experience.
  • Six or more years of banking experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required to establish goals, direct and evaluate staff; interact with employees, industry peers, and outside vendors; make recommendations; prepare reports; and conduct presentations.
  • Tactical as well as strategic thinker, with excellent leadership skills.
  • Excellent organization, project management, execution, and delivery skills. Must be able to multi-task with frequent interruptions; be comfortable in a fast-paced, changing environment; and manage multiple projects to a conclusion on time.
  • Comfortable with metrics-based performance, including the ability to meet critical deadlines.
  • Thorough knowledge of state, federal, and regulatory requirements related to consumer and commercial loan doc preparation, processing, documentation perfection, and the reporting standards for those loans.
  • Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP) as it related to loan processing.
  • MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook.
  • Ability to remain flexible and withstand unpredictable changes to schedules and deadlines.
  • Knowledge of Arta or Laser Pro and Fiserv.
