The Position

Our bank client is seeking to fill a Mortgage Loan Processor role in the Boston, MA area. The selected candidate plays a key support role throughout the stages of the loan beginning at the point of loan submission, and continuing throughout the process of underwriting, closing, post-closing, and loan delivery. The candidate will work closely with customers and bank staff to ensure effective communication in processing, underwriting, and closing loans within required time frames.

This position offers a generous salary of up to $54K and a full benefits package.

Mortgage Loan Processor responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining mortgage files and monitoring for appropriate documentation.
  • Assigning loans to underwriters and loan officers.
  • Reviewing /monitoring file for compliance of state and federal regulations and rate lock expirations for closings.
  • Requesting, obtaining, documenting, validating, and recording pertinent information with a high degree of accuracy, and a sound understanding of the underlying purpose for each function performed.
  • Issuing, receiving and processing initial disclosures and re-disclosures.
  • Sending/tracking legal order/title search to attorney with related documentation (commitment letter, pre-closing worksheet, escrow form, and loan cost worksheet).
  • Responsible for the entire appraisal process for both residential and commercial loans.
  • Ordering transcripts, SSN verifications, and verifications of employment, deposits, and mortgages.
  • Ordering flood certifications for new residential.
  • Reviewing the information provided by attorney/LOS system for accuracy consistently communicates with the Underwriter. Loan Officer, Customer, and Closer.
  • Scheduling all loan closings including HELOC closings with Branch and Borrower.
  • Monitors and/or ensures compliance with Federal and State laws and regulations including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act and Anti- Money Laundering, in addition to, Bank policies and procedures.
  • Performing all other duties assigned.

You also bring the following skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required.
  • One or more years of experience in the mortgage industry.
  • Advanced residential real estate mortgage lending knowledge, including government laws and regulations.
  • Demonstrated competency in utilizing Microsoft Office (i.e. Excel, Word) and the ability to access information through the internet.
  • Strong organizational skills, excellent communication skills, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Analytical ability to use logic and reasoning to solve problems or issues.
  • Experience with Loan Operating Systems preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work under pressure and determine priorities.
  • Ability to manage a pipeline.
