The Position

Our Ohio-based bank client is seeking to fill a hybrid remote Mortgage Loan Underwriter role located in the Greenville, OH market. The successful candidate will be focusing on residential underwriting, this position will be tasked with supporting commercial underwriting as volume allows. The candidate will be analyzing the creditworthiness of individuals to estimate the degree of risk involved in extending credit or lending money.

This position comes with a generous salary of up to $70K and full benefits package. (This is a hybrid remote position in Greenville, OH area).

Mortgage Loan Underwriter responsibilities include:

  • Analyzing credit, income, and appraisal documentation while adhering to investor guidelines for conforming to residential mortgages.
  • Assessing credit requests and producing a recommendation after thoroughly analyzing a variety of factors including but not limited to tax returns, financial statements, cash flow history, credit reports, and debt schedules.
  • Recommending eligibility for lending decisions.
  • Calculating cash flow and debt ratios of self-employed individuals and businesses.
  • Documenting and effectively communicating reasons for approval or denial of loans.
  • Maintaining comprehensive and accurate corporate records, documents, and reports.
  • Ensuring that all documentation is in compliance with the relevant regulations.
  • Studying macro-and micro-economic trends to predict the probable success of the proposed loan request.
  • Assisting the Sr Credit Officer with special projects, as assigned.
  • All other duties requested.

You also bring the following skills and experience:

  • Associate degree in accounting, finance, mathematics, business administration or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of accounting, tax laws, and spreadsheet applications desired.
  • Prior underwriting/credit experience is preferred.
  • Familiar with banking regulations and responsibilities relating to mortgage loans and consumer loans.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize tasks, and written communication.
  • Ability to work with mathematical and analytical concepts such as probability, cause and effect relationships, basic statistics, algebra, and accounting.
