The Position

Our bank client is seeking to fill a Mortgage Portfolio Manager role in the Chicago, IL area. The selected candidate will be managing the bank’s mortgage credits and ensuring the portfolio achieves soundness, probability, and growth objectives.

This position offers a generous salary of up to $80K and full benefits package.

Mortgage Portfolio Manager responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing servicing of the Bank’s mortgage loan portfolios to include servicing and reporting of participation and Freddie Mac loans, escrow administration, new loan set-up, flood, hazard, and private mortgage insurance monitoring and tracking.
  • Actively participating and assisting in all aspects of the loan process including calling, underwriting, presenting throughout the credit approval chain, and closing.
  • Identifying and collecting all relevant information required to analyze credit requests.
  • Managing loan documentation review, secure loan file maintenance, exception tracking, and collateral protection processes including implementation of efficient and effective software solutions.
  • Ensuring that loans and other assets are appropriately, and timely risk rated in accordance with the Bank’s loan policy.
  • Working with senior loan managers to assure loan products developed can be adequately serviced and the collateral properly maintained.
  • Proactively looks to expand client base by cultivating referral relationships, target marketing clients/prospects in accordance with the Bank’s marketing standards.
  • Meeting and exceeding monthly performance scorecard goals that include but, are not limited to developing new profitable business relationships.
  • Preserving confidentiality and security of all bank loan files.

You also bring the following skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited school with course work in finance and accounting preferred.
  • Five or more years of work experience related to various aspects of mortgage lending.
  • Possesses proficient knowledge of credit policy, banking regulations, and loan documentation issues.
  • Must possess extensive knowledge of various loan structures and can apply this knowledge in the formulation of sound credit recommendations.
  • Must be able to spread, analyze, and interpret complex business and personal financial statements and tax returns.
  • Good mathematical, reading comprehension, and writing skills.
  • Must be able to identify strengths and weaknesses of individual requests and make recommendations to address and mitigate perceived risks.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must be able to verbally communicate effectively one-to-one and in groups.
  • Must have good personal organization and time management skills.
  • Must allocate time effectively and independently prioritize workload to meet timelines.
