The Position

Our New York City based client is seeking to fill a Remote Mortgage Loan Closer role. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing loans to close by working closely with the underwriter and loan officers throughout the entire process. The candidate will verify all documentation submitted and verify documents for accuracy per compliance requirements.

This position comes with a generous salary of up to $80K along with a full benefits package.

Mortgage Loan Closer responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing files submitted to verify that all the required documentation needed has been supplied to submit the file to obtain approval and submit to Underwriting Dept.
  • Tracking loans expected to close daily.
  • Reviewing documents and data entered into Loan Operating System for data integrity and uniformity.
  • Verifying with third parties such as employers, banking institutions, credit bureaus, and any other sources to make sure all information provided is accurate
  • Ordering appraisals from only approved appraisers and submit payment to the Accounting department for processing.
  • Working closely with Loan Officer to obtain and review all documentation received by applicants requested by the underwriter.
  • Determines current status of loans and effectively communicates with all parties until the loan is fully approved and forwarded to closing.
  • Reviewing all file approvals, works on clearing and closing related conditions, and obtains any documentation needed to accurately close the loan.
  • Prepares and audits closing disclosures and instructions and delivers to borrowers and settlement agents.
  • Scheduling closings and preparing wire requests for mortgage loan funding.
  • Receiving closing packages and trailing final documents.

You also bring the following skills and experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalency. Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred.
  • Three of more years funding, post-closing, processing, or related experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of mortgage loan documentation and investor guidelines as they relate to the loan closing process.
  • Strong working knowledge of loan program products and services, policies, and closing documents.
  • Must have analytical and auditing skills as well as a firm grasp on math.
  • Must have knowledge pertaining to the regulations governing mortgage lending.
  • Must have knowledge of broker processes and guidelines for any loans that may be sent to an acceptable broker.
  • Must have experience in automated underwriting systems; Encompass preferred
  • Knowledge of FHA insuring process.
  • Knowledge of MERS registration.
  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, time management, and detailed oriented skills.
  • Working knowledge of personal computers to include MS Word and Excel
  • Ability to type 35 wpm accurately.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to deal with branch management level personnel preferred.
