The Position

Our California based bank client is seeking to fill a Remote VP of Finance role. The selected candidate oversees and manages the financial operations, accounting, and back-office staff and activities. As a member of the ALCO Committee, the candidate establishes and executes major economic and financial strategies, objectives, and policies.

This position offers a generous salary of up to $150K plus bonus and full benefits package.

VP of Finance responsibilities include:

  • Recommending sound economic strategies and forecasts that help ensure success.
  • Establishing and ensuring financial policies and activities follow sound financial principles and are in compliance with all banking regulations.
  • Providing recommendations to President/CEO and Board for potential improvements to the balance sheet mix and/or income and expense categories, as well as improvements for products, services, and processes.
  • Meeting or exceeding budget goals.
  • Ensuring financial records, statements, and reports are accurate and completed by established deadlines.
  • Keeping the CEO and Board of Directors informed regarding financial issues affecting the financial institution.
  • Monitoring the cash position to ensure sufficient availability of funds.
  • Providing useful and accurate financial reports and data.
  • Effectively hire, train, lead and supervise employees.
  • Dealing with personnel issues in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Completing performance appraisals according to an established schedule.

You also bring the following skills and experience:

  • Equivalent to a college degree and a professional certificate or a graduate degree.
  • Requires a degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting.
  • Three or more years’ recent experience required with five years of similar or related experience highly preferred.
  • Identified experience within a financial institution highly preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and business practices to effectively manage budgets.
  • Thorough knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
  • Working knowledge of principles and procedures for staff recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiation, and human resource information systems.
  • Displaying a willingness to lead, takes charge, and offers opinions and direction.
  • Identifying complex problems and reviews related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Communicating information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.
