The Position

Our bank client is seeking to fill a Residential Loan Officer role in the Chicago, IL market. The successful candidate will be creating effective business plans to generate more revenue, increase brand loyalty, and improve customer satisfaction.

This position offers a generous salary of up to $60K plus bonus and a full benefits program.

Residential Loan Officer responsibilities include:

  • Growing and maintaining a loan portfolio that conforms to the credit quality standards of the bank.
  • Developing relationships with customers and serving as a resource for their banking needs.
  • Taking mortgage loan applications, providing required disclosures to applicants, obtaining credit reports, and completing/submitting the necessary paperwork to mortgage underwriters to ensure a smooth loan closing.
  • Working closely with retail bankers to develop client relationships and cross-selling products.
  • Cross-selling of the Bank’s lending, depository, and Treasury Management products to new and existing bank clients.
  • Evaluating loan requests, analyzing financial data, and determining the qualification of collateral and credit history.
  • Developing and maintaining knowledge of internal, regulatory, and commercial guidelines.
  • Managing large or complex residential loans as needed, and counseling loan customers on loan management and beneficial financial strategies.
  • Providing training, motivation, and evaluation to staff in conjunction with the Human Resources Department of the Bank.
  • Managing relationships with business banking clients by providing service and support.
  • Delegating duties and responsibilities consistent with their goals and objectives, allowing achievement of those goals and objectives.
  • Keeping abreast of economic trends, market conditions, and regulatory standards.
  • Representing the Bank in community/economic development activities and initiatives.

You also bring the following skills and experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Four-year college degree preferred.
  • Five or more years of lending experience.
  • Strong Analytical skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of the mortgage industry, products, lending practices, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Self-directed, with the ability to plan own activities to achieve sales goals.
  • Strong verbal/written communication, organizational and time-management skills.
  • PC skills, including knowledge of mortgage origination and automated underwriting systems.
