The Position

Our bank client is seeking to fill multiple SBA Business Development Officer / Lender role in the Salt Lake City, UT market. The selected candidate shall be responsible for developing, soliciting, promoting the SBA Lending Line of Business and service delivery system that will be responsive to individual market needs while delivering consistent performance across assigned the foot print. The lender will use a consultative approach with bankers and customers to deliver customer- driven and high-quality credit solutions to our target markets.

The position offers a generous salary of up to $100K and an outstanding benefits package.

SBA Business Development Officer / Lender responsibilities include:

  • Generating new business through prospecting, outside calling, networking and referrals. Making a substantial number of outside, in-person calls on prospects and clients requiring extensive automobile travel.
  • Working to foster new and expanding existing customer relationships through cross-selling products and services.
  • Developing and maintaining a referral source database for both local and the bank overall SBA marketing purposes.
  • Maintaining and applying a thorough understanding of the bank’s credit policy, SBA eligibility and all necessary business practices to ensure the submission of accurate and complete loan application packages.
  • Actively participating in local SBA district functions with assigned marketing area.
  • Providing management with input regarding current policies and practices.
  • Assisting the bank in the promotion of all product lines offered in assigned market.
  • Generating loans that maintain an acceptable level of performance. Assisting special assets and credit services in any requested servicing action within assigned marketing area.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
  • 50% local travel

  • High School Diploma or equivalent – required. Associates degree or higher in Business Management – preferred.
  • Three years recent call center, retail banking and/or bank operations experience which includes a minimum of two or more years in a supervisory or lead role.
  • Possesses professional and effective listening, verbal, and written communication skills (correspondence, reports and email), with the ability to communicate outstanding/follow up issues over the phone, in person and via email; with the ability to read, write, speak and understand English well.
  • Maintains personal composure when confronted with difficult situations, with the ability to gain trust and respect with all levels of staff and management.
  • Must have the ability to deal calmly and effectively to diffuse and manage sometimes volatile and stressful situations.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills are required to manage, motivate, and develop high performance work teams and monitor workflow and schedules; employee development, performance management, training, and employee counseling skills are essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly focus on key issues and make decisions under pressure of time constraints.
  • Unquestionable integrity in handling sensitive and confidential information required.
  • Proficient and advanced use and understanding of MS Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook), telephony hardware/software and contact center specific applications, with the ability to learn and adapt to new technologies quickly.
