The Position

Our client is seeking to fill an SBA/USDA Credit Analyst role in the Tampa, FL market. The candidate will be responsible for analyzing and underwriting SBA 7a and USDA Credit Memos, perform credit analysis on all SBA 7a (SBA 504 and USDA) loans. The successful candidate will be responsible for serving as the primary contact for our clients and the Bank through on-going servicing of SBA and USDA loans.

The position includes a generous salary of up to $85K, plus bonus and excellent benefits package. (This is not a remote position.)

SBA/USDA Credit Analyst responsibilities include:

  • Analyzing financial information for SBA/USDA loan requests (SBA Programs include SBA 7a, SBA 504, International Trade, SBA Express) and USDA B&I and Agricultural Programs to present to the proper Loan Authority/Committee to facilitate lending decisions.
  • Analyzing financial statements, cash flow data, tax returns, collateral, and related materials to perform the underwriting and prepare the Credit Memo.
  • Servicing of loans including annual review of loans, extension of maturing loans, loan restructuring, collections, exception tracking, and quarterly problem asset reports on loans not transferred to a workout specialist.
  • Determining and calculating financial ratios and other complex financial data as appropriate for the transaction (using Sageworks).
  • Preparing SBA Addendum of Credit Memo of any changes to Approval.
  • Keeping the SBA Closing Specialist/Portfolio Manager informed of all outstanding file items for ticklers and follow up.
  • Identifying any Exceptions to Credit Policy (refer to Bank/SBA Credit policy and SBA SOP).
  • Reviewing Projections, and compare to RMA Industry Standards for accuracy, and supporting documentation/reports.
  • Review SBA Form 1919 and Owner/Officer’s Resume for industry experience for eligibility.
  • Attending Training/Webinars related to Documentation and SBA Underwriting-Credit Analysis.
  • Assisting the SBA/USDA Portfolio Manager – Loan Modifications, Annual Reviews/Analysis, Change Request to Release Collateral.
  • Reviewing the third-party reports/due diligence reports including appraisal, environmental, survey, etc, to verify SBA and Bank Regs are met, document any concerns or conditions prior to closing.
  • Attending conference calls with the LO, CLO, or Market President if requested to discuss the transaction and SBA/USDA Regs.
  • Adhering to confidentiality policy, code of ethics, and follow all policies and procedures relative to Consumer Compliance laws and regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance preferred.
  • Two or more years of SBA 7a analyzing and underwriting experience required.
  • SBA 504 and International Trade, and USDA, B&I/Arg experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of SBA & USDA loan structuring, underwriting, documentation, and credit.
  • A high level of knowledge of SBA SOP.
  • Must understand and prepare the SBA Credit Memo without supervision.
  • Good credit analysis and accounting skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships within the bank and capable of establishing professional expertise through integrity, dedication, and strategic counsel.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; must be able to convey complex concepts in a clear and concise manner.
  • Knowledge of Sageworks, nCino, and CAFS/ETRAN desired.
