The Position

Our client is seeking to fill a Senior Bank Accountant role in the Mansfield, OH market. The selected candidate shall be responsible for assisting in preparing statements that follow all regulatory and accounting guidelines. The candidate should have a solid knowledge of GAAP as well as financial regulations. The Senior Bank Accountant combines excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and forecasts.

This position offers a generous salary of up to $90K and a full benefits program. (This is a hybrid-remote position).

Senior Bank Accountant responsibilities include:

  • Preparing monthly financial statements, reports, and records by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information; prepare monthly financials for the Board of Directors Package.
  • General ledger accountability, financial reporting, financial profitability analysis, budgeting, and other special projects.
  • Recording monthly operating results and recurring entries, reviewing coding on invoices, reviewing monthly transaction registers, reconciling general ledger accounts, recording equity income, accounting for property taxes, preparing and analyzing data reports, and review of monthly financial statements.
  • Preparing cash flow statements and the Daily Cash Management Sheet and recommends transfers as needed.
  • Coordinating and preparing cash audits on a quarterly basis and serves as the liaison for external auditors.
  • Overseeing vendor management.
  • Maintaining the OPCS for public funds with pledging requirements.
  • Providing monthly, quarterly, and year-end analyses.
  • Preparing bi-weekly payroll and related items and coordinating with outside payroll vendors.
  • Processing biweekly 401(k) employee deferral and employer contributions; monitoring and updating group insurance premium updates for payroll.
  • Provide accounting support and guidance for existing, new, and proposed accounting pronouncements.
  • Assisting in preparation of audit work papers and supporting documentation for year-end audits with internal auditors, external auditors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Perform financial and profitability analyses, review bank statements, and monitor reserve accounts and short-term fund investments.
  • Completing data backups; utilizing automation software to streamline processes.
  • Ensuring accuracy and effectiveness in all accounting tasks performed.

  • Must have a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Accounting.
  • Five or more years of general accounting experience, public accounting, and/or banking experience is a plus.
  • Experience as an assistant controller or other similar position preferred.
  • Strong problem solving, technical and analytical skills, and the ability to work independently.
  • Detail-oriented accuracy in daily work and other projects, good communication skills, and strong computer skills.
  • Ability to multitask and manage changing priorities and meet communicated schedules and deadlines.
  • Ability to function well both independently and in a team-oriented environment.
  • Adherence to policies, procedures, and instructions of Chief Financial Officer, ability to build strong relationships, and be a team player.
