The Position

Our North Carolina-based bank client is seeking a fill a Hybrid Remote Sr. BSA Fraud Analyst role. The selected candidate will be evaluating and concluding on potentially suspicious activity that has been escalated through the bank’s alert monitoring system or referred by other departments, and for preparing information for Suspicious Activity Report (SAR) filing.

This position offers a competitive salary of up to $60K and a full benefits package. (This is a Hybrid remote position in the state of North Carolina.)

Sr. BSA Fraud Analyst responsibilities include:

  • Participating in the process of determining and recommending additional next steps in response to fraud or suspicious activity, including disabling services, closing accounts, and contacting law enforcement or adult protective services.
  • Independently manages specialties assigned by the BSA Officer, including OFAC compliance, CIP and customer due diligence, currency transaction report (CTR), SAR quality control, departmental data reporting, and fraud case manager, demonstrating ownership of the timeliness and effectiveness of each function.
  • Serving as a subject matter expert for regulatory topics associated with areas of specialty, responding to questions from the field, and serving on any bank projects impacting the area of specialty.
  • Evaluating potential suspicious activity escalated through new cases, 90-day SAR reviews, and Internal SAR (ISAR) reviews.
  • Participating in the process of concluding on suspicious activity and drafting SARs for review and filing.
  • Performing any regular quality control, compliance tests, risk assessments, or management reporting associated with assigned specialties.
  • Effectively documents reviews, research, and conclusions in defense of decisions and recommendations.
  • Managing daily tasks and longer-range projects according to agreed-upon schedule and keeping BSA Officer updated on progress and status.
  • Providing support to BSA Fraud Analyst I and II when the BSA Officer/BSA AML Fraud Manager is unavailable.

You also bring the following skills and experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Five or more years of total experience with three or more years in BSA/Fraud or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of money laundering and/or fraud scenarios such as but not limited to terrorist financing, human trafficking, elder financial exploitation, check kiting, and other various fraud schemes.
  • Knowledge of audit techniques.
  • Requires the continuous exercise of judgment following broad guidelines. Identifies and selects complex choices of action where standard practices may not exist.
  • Must be able to accommodate detailed work, problem-solving, reasoning, math, presentations, verbal communication, written communication, analytical reasoning, training others, multiple concurrent tasks, and constant interruptions.
  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to instruct others, train personnel, write reports, correspondence, and procedures, and speak clearly and effectively with staff at all levels.
