The Position

Our client is seeking to fill a Senior Commercial Lender – Team Lead (SVP) role in the greater Paterson, NJ market. This position is responsible for leading a team of bankers while also developing relationships with commercial banking, corporate banking, and community banking commercial customers with a focus on growing revenues.

The position includes a generous salary of up to $170K, full benefits package and is bonus eligible.

Senior Commercial Lender – Team Lead (SVP) responsibilities include:

  • Managing and grow an existing commercial loan portfolio of current bank relationships with Community Banking commercial customers.
  • Ability to lead a team of 2-4 commercial relationship managers.
  • Outstanding commercial lending credit skills
  • Ability to grow revenues as directed by senior management by successfully prospecting for new business and retaining and expanding existing customer relationships.
  • Approving loans within assigned limits and managing loan & portfolio credit quality.
  • Deep understanding of all relevant commercial banking compliance regulations.
  • Sourcing prospects and developing new customer relationships, as well as providing financial advice to customers.
  • Selling appropriate bank products and services to those prospects and clients.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, or equivalent work experience.
  • Ten or more years’ commercial lending and team management experience.
  • Strong client management and business development/sales skills.
  • Rich knowledge of credit and credit quality.
  • Familiarity with the market territory including all of New Jersey and lower New York State.
  • Thorough knowledge of traditional bank products and services.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals and groups in managing customer relationships.
  • Excellent presentation, verbal and written communication skills.
  • A comprehensive understanding of the complete commercial lending process with an emphasis on processing and closing functions.
  • Possess exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly across all lines of business while handling multiple priorities are mandatory.
