The Position

Our client is seeking to fill a Sr. Commercial Loan Processor/Closer role in the greater Los Angeles, CA market. The Loan Processor’s primary responsibility is to assist loan officers with bringing approved loans to funding by working closely with loan applicants and third parties, such as appraisers, title companies and attorneys.  The Sr. Commercial Loan Processor/Closer ensures the completeness of the loan file and prepares preliminary, closing and renewal loan documents in accordance with the approved terms, bank’s policies, and in compliance with federal and state regulations. Additional responsibilities include monitoring and enforcing post-closing exception items and working closely with customers and attorneys to manage the loan closing.

This position offers a generous salary of up to $75K and a full benefits package.

Sr. Commercial Loan Processor/Closer responsibilities include:

  • Performing preliminary reviews of the loan file information including estoppels, SNDA’s, insurance, operating statements, credit reports, tax returns, and borrower/guarantor financial information and all legal documents.
  • Requesting title searches, title policy commitments, UCC searches, insurance certificates, articles of organization, operating agreements, trust agreements, corporate by-laws, and legal opinions;
  • Scanning and organizing financial information and document in DocuShare.
  • Following procedures to efficiently and accurately process home loan products at a quality level consistent with established FNMA, Private Mortgage Insurance, and internal guidelines, as well as meeting all regulatory requirements.
  • Maintaining a pipeline of loans, ensuring timely flow of loans through the process.
  • Monitoring and ensuring closing dates and company deadlines are met.
  • Reviewing loan files for completeness upon receipt and updating data in the system of record as needed prior to submitting to Underwriting.
  • Ensuring all documentation necessary to obtain a loan approval has been received, reviewed, and updated in the system of record.
  • Post-closing documentation review and enforcing receipt of closing binders and exception items by working closely with attorneys and the Commercial Loan Officer.
  • Auditing the loan file for completeness and determining that all bank requirements and guidelines have been met.
  • Disbursing loan funds after closing and setup (image) loan documents within established timelines.
  • Completing, processing and issuing all required adverse action notices.
  • Maintaining consistent communication with customers throughout the loan process, assisting them with questions including updates on loan status and notifying them of additional requirements.
  • Providing excellent customer service by effectively communicating and cooperating with all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Acting as a backup for other functions in the department and providing training as assigned.
  • Verifying and testing for accuracy and efficiency all processes and procedures related to mortgage processing activities; suggests changes to support organizational effectiveness.

You also bring the following skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration preferred; accounting/finance experience is beneficial. The appropriate combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Five or more years of related experience in lending and banking operations with an emphasis on commercial lending.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in analyzing and assessing personal tax returns and business tax returns for Corporations, S-Corps, and Partnerships, including all schedules. FHA and VA processing experience a plus. Knowledge of Texas Home Equity Loan processes is desired.
  • Must be bondable.
  • Efficient with the use of a personal computer, Microsoft Office products, Credit Bureau Systems, financial calculators, DU, Doc Magic, Optimal Blue, and Encompass.
