The Position

Our bank client is seeking to fill a Sr. Loan Operations/Servicing Manager role in the Poughkeepsie, NY market. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day to day supervising, directing, and monitoring of the Loan Operations and Collections staff. The candidate will be responsible for the oversight of the professional and timely collection of delinquent loans and loss mitigation, including ensuring accurate and timely reporting of delinquent, foreclosure, bankrupt loans and workouts to Investors, Mortgage Insurers/Guarantors, State, and Federal Entities, and management.

This position offers a generous salary of up to $85K and an outstanding benefits package. (This is not a remote position.)

Sr. Loan Operations/Servicing Manager responsibilities include:

  • Leading and directing the activities of the Loan Operations Department personnel, ensuring all processing deadlines and service standards are met.
  • Managing and leading the daily operations of consumer and commercial Loan Servicing and Collections functions by including monitoring staff performance, monitoring daily workflow, oversight of legal and vendor involvement, and monitoring adherence to procedures, guidelines, and compliance.
  • Providing maintenance on the loan system, accurately processing loan transactions, including loan payments, payoffs, advances, escrows, participations, maintaining data on the system for new and renewed loans.
  • Oversight of all escrow reporting, maintenance, and analysis.
  • Directing the management of the Foreclosure activities of the Collections area.
  • Preparing and maintaining reports including delinquency, foreclosure, bankruptcy reports, and investor reporting.
  • Maintaining and updating written procedures for departmental processes including changes in Investor, MI/Guarantor, Federal, State, and local regulations.
  • Acting as a liaison between bank departments, legal counsel, Investors, MI/Guarantor, Federal, State, and local entities, and vendors, keeping the lines of communication to assist with problem resolution.
  • Interviewing and hiring Loan Operations staff; determines work priorities; schedules work assignments; orients, trains, and evaluates work performance; and provides ongoing recognition, mentoring, coaching, and counseling.
  • Conducting regular staff meetings to update staff on changes and review the status of accounts, workflow, and other pertinent information.
  • Preparing financial budgets, ensures compliance/achievement of the financial plan, and analyzes budget information for comparison of actual to plan.
  • Resolving credit policy issues identified internally or by the regulators by coordinating due diligence efforts with bank personnel.
  • Developing, achieving, and delivering loan operations service standards.
  • Working closely with all lending department staff and assisting as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • High school diploma or equivalent certificate required.
  • Bachelor’s degree highly preferred or equivalent experience required.
  • Three or more years of previous collection related experience in a banking environment is required.
  • Strong background in Collections is required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required to establish goals, direct and evaluate staff; interact with employees, industry peers, and outside vendors; make recommendations; prepare reports; and conduct presentations.
  • Tactical as well as a strategic thinker, with excellent leadership skills.
  • Excellent organization, project management, execution, and delivery skills. Must be able to multi-task with frequent interruptions; be comfortable in a fast-paced, changing environment; and manage multiple projects to conclusion on time.
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English is a plus.
