The Position

Our bank client is seeking to fill an SVP – Accounting/Finance role in the Memphis, TN market. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the CFO with the daily operation of the Finance Department as it relates to all accounting and financial control functions.

This position comes with a generous competitive salary of up to $125K and a full benefits package.

SVP – Accounting/Finance responsibilities include:

  • Managing the operations of the Accounting and Finance Department.
  • Managing all personnel in the accounting group function including accounts payable, daily accounting, internal financial reporting, and transfer agent services.
  • Maintaining and thoroughly inspecting balance sheets, income statements, general ledger, and other accounting-related subsidiary journals that are fundamental to the operation.
  • Reviewing accounting department systems, procedures, and controls on an ongoing basis.
  • Maintaining borrowing line applications and conducting annual testing for lines of credit.
  • Performing monthly audits of investments and annual review of broker relationships.
  • Participating in the ALCO to help manage on- and off-balance sheet risk.
  • Overseeing modeling system used for financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Assisting in preparation of an annual budget and maintaining budgeting software system.
  • Preparing monthly reports for board meetings and special reports requested by the President/CEO.
  • Working closely with the Controller on all aspects of leadership-always bearing in mind the synergistic benefits of an effective team.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

You also bring the following skills and experience: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. Master’s Degree preferred.
  • CPA required.
  • Five or more years of accounting experience (banking experience or public accounting experience preferred, but not required).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles, a thorough understanding of Budgetary and variance analysis, and reporting techniques.
  • Analytical ability to use financial information for solving problems (including those relating strategic goals to operating situations).
  • Management experience required.
  • Knowledge of general ledger and accounting reconciliations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Ability to multi-task as this position will require the incumbent to manage several different duties.
