The Position

Our Wisconsin-based bank client is seeking to fill a Hybrid Remote SVP – Consumer Lending role located in the Milwaukee, WI area. The position is responsible for setting and executing the overall strategy for the Consumer Lending business, products, and portfolio risk management.

The opportunity has a generous salary of up to $210K and a benefits package. (This is a hybrid remote position – Must be able to travel to the Milwaukee, WI area 2-3 days a week).

SVP – Consumer Lending responsibilities include:

  • Strategy development and execution, planning, and overall leadership of the consumer loan services organization.
  • Leading Portfolio Risk Management and Consumer loan product management to drive consumer lending initiatives that support growth expectations and create member value.
  • Developing and submitting for approval an annual operating plan and budget, including staffing projections, for all areas of responsibility.
  • Partnering internally to deliver on the Branch, Member Service Center (MSC), and Online/Digital transformation strategy for the Consumer Lending function, including driving adoption of a digital and automated end-to-end consumer loan experience with internal and external partners.
  • Developing and leading the execution of the organization’s consumer loan platform, including identifying and building relationships with key strategic partners and service providers.
  • Leading the implementation of processes, procedures, and LOS (Loan Origination System) improvements to achieve continuous quality improvement, maximum efficiency, employee engagement, and member satisfaction.
  • Leading cross-functional priority discussions and decisions for consumer lending-related projects and initiatives.
  • Reviewing and underwriting high dollar, complex, member escalation or exception credit requests within designated authority.
  • Actively monitors the competitive landscape and develops partnerships with service providers to transform the member and employee experience, while building the scale and efficiency to support high growth.
  • Managing third-party agencies and suppliers to ensure updated technology and market competitiveness.
  • Identifying, assessing, and developing new lending markets and other new business opportunities within and outside of the organization’s existing business footprint.
  • Developing and implementing capacity planning models to ensure staffing and production are optimized.
  • Providing ongoing coaching, mentoring, and training within the department to develop and encourage employee performance.
  • Meeting with staff on a timely basis for the purpose of conducting year-end and mid-year reviews, using competencies and goals as performance measures.
  • All other duties assigned.

You also bring the following skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field.
  • Ten or more years of experience leading high-growth, scaled lending production/origination operations.
  • Thorough understanding of retail financial institution branch channels, mobile, and online delivery channels.
  • Accomplished in the strategic execution of a full end-to-end application-to-fulfillment consumer loan experience.
  • Experience building and leading a digital loan or product delivery process.
  • Experience managing all levels of staff through the development of skills, performance management, and coaching.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of technologies like AI, RPA, and their applications or use cases in the consumer lending space.
  • Experience leading process improvement efforts resulting in efficiencies and productivity gains.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, problem-solving skills, and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to independently organize work, balance multiple priorities and manage a variety of projects in a high-volume work environment with strong attention to detail.
