This position includes a salary up to $80K.  (This is not a remote position).

The Position

Our bank client is seeking to fill a Senior Credit Analyst role in the Chicago, IL market. The candidate will analyze sources of financial information, such as reporting services, credit bureaus, and other companies to determine profitability of loans.

Sr. Credit Analyst responsibilities include:

  • Spread and analyze personal and business financials (must have comprehensive understanding of quality and complexity of financial statements)
  • Analyze commercial real estate leases and rent rolls, review and understand collateral valuations, and perform market/industry research
  • Adhere to Bank policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements/guidelines, and maintain strict confidentiality
  • Understand and identify risks and mitigants, recommend risk ratings, loan covenants and structure based on credit worthiness and risk appetite
  • Work independently to complete financial analysis and fully underwrite through approval, including presentation to loan committee
  • Multi-task and meet expected deadlines
  • Detail-oriented and generate reliably accurate, consistent work product
  • Compile and deliver loan committee packages
  • Complete annual reviews on complex credits and monitor completion of annual reviews for the Bank’s commercial portfolio
  • Train and mentor junior analyst(s)
  • Strong communication/interpersonal skills: ability to maintain professional relationships with lending partners and work with colleagues in various departments/locations within the Bank; clear and concise written and verbal communication required
  • Understanding of standard loan documents and the closing process
  • Generate internal reports as needed

  • Bachelor’s degree or work-level experience in related field of study (accounting, finance, etc.)
  • 5-10 years’ experience in commercial / business credit underwriting, including commercial real estate (experience in construction lending desired)
  • Formal credit training.
