The Position

Our credit union client has an immediate need to fill a Vice President of Marketing & Business Development role in the greater Chicagoland area.  The successful candidate will be responsible for the developing and capturing of new business as well as the planning, execution, and optimization of marketing strategies in support of the Credit Unions brand and associated business priorities and initiatives.  Responsibilities will include interfacing with customers, all levels of management, staff and product specialists.

The position includes a generous salary of up to $165K+ plus bonus and excellent benefits package.

Vice President of Marketing & Business Development responsibilities include:

  • Developing and expanding new credit union relationships with business prospects and maintaining existing business banking client base to achieve established goals.
  • Developing a strategic marketing plan to advance brand identity, broaden sales, and services, and increase awareness across key stakeholder audiences.
  • Directing the Business Development, Sales, and Marketing Teams.
  • Identifying and assessing strategic gaps and developing business plans to close the gaps.
  • Identifying challenges and emerging issues faced by the organization, working with the leadership team and staff to recognize internal and external opportunities and solutions, and define and execute appropriate strategies to support them.
  • Prioritizing business development opportunities and ensuring enough resources are dedicated to capturing new business.
  • Ensuring that the Marketing Department supports development efforts and achieves growth targets.
  • Monitoring and understanding the broad market and regulatory dynamics affecting the operation.
  • Participating with other key executives in developing key strategies concerning technology, product offering, pricing, customer experience, and major program management.
  • Contribute to the credit union’s continued success by identifying opportunities to strengthen its business model as competitive and market trends evolve.
  • Performs other responsibilities assigned.

You also bring the following skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent work experience and training. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Ten or more years of successful experience in commercial sales and business development including client management and a track record of consultative sales wins, five (5) of which will have been at the senior management level developing innovative marketing programs.
  • Experience in managing the strategic direction of overall Business Development, Sales, and Marketing operations – proven ability to incorporate complex information into a simple strategy and then execute against the strategy.
  • Capable of leading teams through inspired leadership and strong communication skills.
  • Proven commitment to Member/Customer satisfaction.
  • Strong financial products orientation – understanding of member/customer wants and needs that can be effectively applied to creating market-winning products.
  • Ability to sell effectively to prospects and members.
  • Strong working knowledge of personal computers to include MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
