The Position

Our bank client is seeking to fill an Assistant Bank Controller role in the greater San Francisco, CA market. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the general ledger accounting system and ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles. Assisting the Controller and CFO with the preparation of all internal and external financial statements and related reports and meeting all filing deadlines.

This position offers a salary of up to $100K plus bonus and full benefits package. (This is a partially remote position).

Assistant Bank Controller responsibilities include:

  • Analyzing financial information to prepare financial reports for review by senior management.
  • Preparing and filing financial regulatory reports including Call Reports and Federal Reserve Reports.
  • Completing Call Reports.
  • Participate in the ALLL process.
  • Assisting the Controller with the necessary regulatory filings within the required timelines.
  • Assisting in the preparation of SEC filings to include 10-Qs and 10-Ks.
  • Acting as the primary contact between the company and its core general ledger processor.
  • Monitor reporting for the investment portfolio.
  • Preparing for monthly accounting close and consolidation process.
  • Coordinating and managing internal and external financial audit processes.
  • Processing accounts payable, facilitating daily accounting functions through the completion of postings within the general ledger.
  • Assisting with the annual budget process and payroll processing.

You also bring the following skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance with extensive accounting coursework.
  • Two or more years of related business experience including audit or banking.
  • Experience working for a financial institution is a plus.
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel, preferably including knowledge of PivotTables, Look-Up functions, and complex formulas.
  • Experience writing SQL queries a plus.
  • Ability to quickly learn industry-specific software, such as Call Report Preparation software and the Bank’s core system.
  • Excellent communication skills: verbal, listening, and written.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, set priorities, meet deadlines, and resolve highly complex financial problems.
