The Position

Our client is seeking to fill a Chief Operating Officer role in the greater Austin, TX market. The selected candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the bank achieves service, sales, and operational goals by providing direction, leadership, and motivation to employees at all levels of the company. Reporting directly to the CEO and assists the CEO, CCO, and the CFO to add depth to the management team in order to execute the Board’s strategic vision, budget, and various strategic initiatives. The candidate will be responsible for the management of the overall quality and efficiency of Bank operations, ensuring that the company delivers outstanding service that is client-focused and efficient.

The position includes a generous salary of up to $150K plus bonus and excellent benefits package.

Chief Operating Officer responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with the President and CEO and Executive Leadership to establish and accomplish annual goals and objectives as well as strategic plans for the Bank.
  • Overseeing daily operations of the company, including Deposit Operations, IT, Cybersecurity, Product Development, and Product Management, Branch Operations, Compliance, Facilities, and Vendor Management functions.
  • Managing the company’s IT Managed Services Provider (MSP) relationship and chair the IT Committee.
  • Recruiting, motivating, and leading a high-performance management team in achieving/exceeding the budgetary goals.
  • Overseeing research, analysis, trends, and program evaluation of operations in support of strategic planning, and day-to-day problem-solving.
  • Working with the Board and leadership team in identifying and implementing new products to increase the competitive position.
  • Ensuring that operational risk is effectively addressed in all aspects of the operational areas.
  • Implementing and overseeing the Vendor Management program, strengthening key relationships with partners/vendors.
  • Authorizing capital expenditures within budget.
  • Participating in Bank strategic expansion activities (acquisitions, corporate alliances, etc.).

You also bring the following skills and experience:

  • B.S. /B.A. in Operations Management or similar discipline or equivalent work experience.
  • Five or more years of recent retail banking experience in a managerial role.
  • Proven experience as Chief Operating Officer or relevant role, preferably in a multi-location financial institution.
  • Strong working knowledge of IT/Network Infrastructure/Cyber Security areas.
  • A strong background in credit administration.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Proven leadership skills.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office Suite.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organization skills and ability to stay productive in a high growth, dynamic environment.
