The Position

Our bank client is seeking to fill a Commercial Lender role to be based in the Poughkeepsie, NY area. The successful candidate will identify and develop new markets within the bank’s footprint and expand lending opportunities in accordance with the bank’s strategic plan. The candidate will also be responsible for the development, maintenance, and growth of the Bank’s loan portfolio and deposit relationships.

This position offers a generous base salary of up to $135K plus a generous bonus and full benefits program. (This is not a remote position.)

Commercial Lender responsibilities include:

  • Developing and managing commercial loan accounts that meet established lending requirements and provide maximum profitability at minimum risk.
  • Building relationships, working within the prescribed framework of policies and procedures, offering flexible and competitive banking solutions, including business loans, lines of credit, deposits, and other business products.
  • Collecting and analyzing information that reflects the current creditworthiness of customers and the current merits of existing loans.
  • Reviews and analyzes title reports or surveys to determine issues and any present or potential risk.
  • Analyzing applicant financial status, credit, and property evaluation to determine the feasibility of granting the loan or submits an application to credit analyst for verification and recommendation.
  • Meeting with applicants to obtain information for loan applications and to answer questions about the process.
  • Guiding loans through the approval and closing process.
  • Explaining, promoting, cross-selling, or referring banks, insurance, and trust products or services.
  • Proactively executes regular calling programs to clients and maintains frequent interaction with centers of influence, diverse industry segments, community leaders, and senior business contacts.
  • Representing the Bank in the community through professional and civic involvement is critically important to this role.

You also bring the following skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a business-related field.
  • Five or more years of commercial lending, loan portfolio administration, and sales in the banking industry is required.
  • Established lender with extensive business development and client portfolio management experience.
  • MUST have a local network of referral sources.
  • Established centers of influence for referral sources and strong community leadership experience, serving on not-for-profit Boards.
  • Experience analyzing financial statements.
  • Completion of a formalized credit training program is preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of Federal and State regulations covering commercial banking activities.
  • Strong analytical ability with effective written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Efficient use of Outlook, Word, and Excel applications.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
