The Position

Our client is seeking to fill a Consumer Loan Manager role in the Cordova, MD market. The successful candidate will be responsible for the efficient and effective operation of the Consumer Credit Analysts and decision making of the Bank’s consumer loan applications. This individual will stay abreast of state and federal laws concerning lending and collection policies and procedures. The candidate will be optimizing the consumer loan application and approval experience, managing proper loan review policies and procedures, and training appropriate staff.

The position includes a generous salary of up to $165K and excellent benefits package. (This is not a remote position).

Consumer Loan Manager responsibilities include:

  • Designing, implementing, and managing the consumer lending training program.
  • Analyzing data and evaluating the immediate prospects of the individual including calculating a DTI and LTV, approve loans within the authority, and recommend approval to appropriate individual or committee.
  • Overseeing, mentoring, and supervising the branch staff in loan turndowns with the goal of preserving and building relationships with customers.
  • Receiving data on prospective and active borrowing accounts and communicating approvals to the appropriate staff, and make counteroffers accompanied by coaching tips on how to sell the counter.
  • Providing thorough documentation of all financial analysis work, including ratios and other related information.
  • Managing the initiation of the loan renewal process.
  • Coordinating and overseeing the duties and responsibilities of Credit Analysts to ensure efficient operations and departmental activities correspond to operating policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for the design and maintenance of Consumer Policies and Procedures with the goal to optimize the customer experience.
  • Designing an automated approval process and pricing matrix, oversee the automated approval process upon completion, and review all loans which may not qualify under the designed automated approval process.

You also bring the following skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration preferred; accounting/finance experience is beneficial.
  • Five or more years of credit analysis experience preferred.
  • Prior supervisory experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of all aspects of consumer lending; including residential construction and indirect lending.
  • Knowledge of banking regulations, procedures, and operations.
  • Specialized financial analysis training.
  • Prior sales experience is preferred.
  • Must possess attention to detail, accuracy in work performed, and can multi-task while maintaining focus.
  • Proficient in the design and implementation of automated consumer approval and pricing matrix.
  • Excellent PC skills required; must demonstrate the ability to mentor/coach other team members while completing own work at a high level.
