The Position

Our client is seeking to fill a Financial Controller role based in the greater Dallas, TX market. The selected candidate will be responsible for supervising, planning, and coordinating the accounting procedures and activities for the company. They will also be responsible for providing highly responsible and complex financial assistance to the executive staff, overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger balance, and producing financial reports to executive staff.

This position offers a competitive salary of up to $77K and a comprehensive benefits package.

Financial Controller responsibilities include:

  • Managing the full cycle accounting process per GAAP including intercompany reimbursements, work in process, prepaids, accruals, general ledger balance, and fixed assets, accounts receivable, accounts payable and payroll.
  • Preparing weekly status reports and analysis as requested.
  • Coordinating with and preparing reports for the tax accountant.
  • Setting up new vendors in the system and maintaining vendor accounts.
  • Creating and maintaining purchase orders; reviewing and processing vendor invoices.
  • Maintaining accounting ledgers by verifying and posting account transactions.
  • Reconciling all company bank accounts, credit cards, and any other financial accounts.
  • Monitoring spending, budgets and forecasts, and presenting status to President and Chief Operating Officer.
  • Facilitating monthly/weekly meetings with departments/teams.
  • Identifying financial issues and communicating analyses and recommendations to executive staff.
  • Overseeing and ensuring timely completion of business documentation and licenses.
  • Supporting both internal and external audit activities throughout the year, including oversight of billing rates and remediation of issues found during those audits.
  • Completing monthly, quarterly and year-end close procedures including system closing, journal entry preparation, and account reconciliations.
  • Assisting in managing budgets and cash flow forecasting.
  • Analyzing and reviewing financial data for accuracy.
  • Performing additional projects/tasks and duties as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer.

You also bring the following skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
  • Proven working experience as a Financial Controller.
  • Five or more years of overall combined accounting and finance experience.
  • CPA or CMA preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
  • Experience with creating financial statements.
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end closing process.
  • Excellent accounting software user and administration skills.
