The Position

Our Washington-based community bank client is seeking to fill a Remote Internal Audit Manager in the state of Washington. The selected candidate will be responsible for preparing, maintaining, presenting, and administering the Bank’s Strategic Audit Plan and Risk Assessment, Audit Calendar, and Internal Audit Department budget to the Audit Committee for approval.

This position offers a competitive salary of up to $125K and a full benefits package. (This is a remote position – must live in Washington or Oregon).

Internal Audit Manager responsibilities include:

  • Independently manages the Bank’s Internal Audit Policy, Strategic Audit Plan and Risk Assessment, and audit programs for all areas of the bank.
  • Leading Internal Audit Department employees, by guiding their performance, giving performance feedback, and addressing performance problems promptly.
  • Managing the administrative functions of the department.
  • Performing internal audits that evaluate the bank’s internal control environment for compliance with applicable regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Development of the FDICIA internal control program.
  • Reporting audit findings to Management, Executive Management, and the Audit Committee.
  • Evaluating management responses to all audit reports, tracking findings, and verifying that remediation is implemented.
  • Monitoring remediation activities until resolution of the identified deficiency.
  • Evaluating and coordinating with management for the engagement of outsourced auditors as needed for various audits in accordance with audit plan and FDICIA testing, etc.
  • Providing education to the Audit Committee and Executive Management during Audit Committee meetings.
  • Reviewing, evaluating, and verifying the soundness, adequacy, and application of controls and procedures, for all departments of the bank.

You also bring the following skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field including coursework in accounting.
  • Five years’ experience conducting internal, financial, and/or operational audits.
  • CPA or CIA designation preferred, but not required.
  • Experience in the financial services industry, accounting, or auditing.
  • Knowledge of application and implementation of effective governance, risk, and control.
  • Understands risk theory and risk management techniques and possesses knowledge of various risk assessment frameworks.
  • Understands control design and application, and control testing techniques.
  • Using audit tools, techniques, and procedures, such as data collection, sampling, data mining, trend analysis, interviewing, questionnaires, checklists, etc.
  • Microsoft Office Suite and uses it effectively.
