The Position

Our bank client is seeking to fill a Loan Document Specialist role in the greater Chicago, IL market. The candidate will perform all necessary functions related to the processing, origination, renewal, and modification of all commercial credit facilities (commercial mortgages, construction loans, lines of credit, term loans, etc.).

The position includes a generous salary of up to $60K and excellent benefits package.

Loan Documentation Specialist responsibilities include:

  • Organizing, reviewing, and determining necessary documentation for loans in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Working with loan officers, attorneys, title company representatives, and customers to smoothly facilitate loan closings.
  • Preparing new loan documents and modifications for loans in accordance with written loan approval using LaserPro loan documentation software.
  • Ordering appraisals and assigns internal evaluations to be completed. Follows up on outstanding appraisal reviews.
  • Ordering and reviews title work according to procedures, flood determinations, insurance certificates, and any other third-party documents necessary to process the loan.
  • Ensuring that the loan package complies with credit approval and follows loan policy before the package is sent to closing.
  • Reviewing all title commitments and title searches prior to closing to assure credit quality standards are maintained.
  • Completing assigned paperwork for Loan Manager and Loan Officers promptly and accurately.
  • Following up on receipt of post-closing pending items such as vehicle titles, recorded documents, and title policies.
  • Routinely monitors UCC filings to ensure that filings are renewed in a timely manner.
  • All other duties assigned.

You also bring the following skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • Two years of commercial loan processing experience required.
  • Understanding of consumer and commercial loan products and services.
  • Knowledge of loan processing functions and related requirements and procedures.
  • Knowledgeable in entity documents to determine authorization and signers.
  • Confidence to prioritize assigned tasks to accommodate departmental needs and meet established turn-around times for all loan settlements.
  • Knowledgeable in title insurance policy requirements and endorsements required to close.
  • Proficiency with Laser Pro, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge of the FIS IBS Insight loan system helpful.
  • Strong communication, writing, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to pay attention to the details and work in a face-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision or supervisor intervention, with minimal errors.
