The Position

Our client is seeking to fill a Senior Bank Accountant role in the San Diego, CA market. The position is responsible for understanding and applying accounting principles, preparing and analyzing financial reports and statements; designing and executing appropriate internal controls; developing/maintaining desktop procedures.

The opportunity has a generous salary of up to $125K and an attractive benefits package.

Senior Bank Accountant responsibilities include:

  • Preparing of key accounting estimates, including valuation of servicing rights, allowance for loan losses, and purchase accounting. (including ASC 310-30 quarterly revaluations, core deposit intangible, and other fair value adjustments).
  • Anticipating the effect of new accounting standards on the Company; prepare summary analysis recommendation to management.
  • Accounting for other real estate including monthly review for impairment adjustments, testing sales for proper derecognition, posting all other real estate related entries.
  • Working with production departments and operations to determine proper accounting for the Company’s loan portfolio and related income; including treatment of nonaccrual loans, discounts and premium amortization, sale derecognition and complex accounting issues specific to SBA, indirect and residential mortgage loans.
  • Working with internal and external auditors and regulators to support their testing of key accounting estimates.
  • Preparing financial statement disclosures related to responsibilities.
  • Participating in efficiency and process improvement initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.

You also bring the following skills and experience:

  • Five or more years of technical accounting experience required with a $1B+ financial institution preferred.
  • CPA designation required.
  • Advanced knowledge of and ability to research and analyze complex accounting standards specific to financial institutions.
  • Works in a conscientious, consistent and thorough manner with attention to detail.
  • Maintains high standards for accuracy and quality of assignments.
