The Position

Our Colorado-based bank client is seeking to fill a Remote Sr. Credit Analyst role in the state of Colorado. The successful candidate will be responsible for financial analysis and cash flow analysis, spreading business financials and tax returns, spreading guarantor financials and tax returns, and other commercial underwriting functions.

The position includes a generous salary of up to $72K and an excellent benefits package. (This is a remote position – must live in the state of Colorado).

Sr. Credit Analyst responsibilities include:

  • Determining the creditworthiness of applicants by evaluating customer credit data and financial statements.
  • Identifying and mitigating risk to the bank by reviewing trends and cash flows in business financials to formulate meaningful borrower interviews and ensure compliance with bank loan policy.
  • Underwriting loans with a focus on a specific sector of either Commercial or Agricultural.
  • Underwriting most requests requiring board approval.
  • Preparing loan presentations for new credit requests, renewals, and annual reviews.
  • Presenting analysis, findings, and recommendations to lenders and management, tied to analysis and assessment of credit risk.
  • Supporting the business and commercial lending teams by analyzing lending opportunities, recommending appropriate credit structures, preparing credit memos, and monitoring existing credits.
  • Assisting with managing the commercial loan portfolio to include, but not limited to, document tracking, reporting, and covenant monitoring.
  • Managing department activities or projects.
  • Reviewing all relevant loan information, including but not limited to loan applications, financial statements, entity documents, and market valuations.
  • Researching and collecting industry-specific data to use for ratio analysis and assessment of industry risks.
  • Generating quality credit memos for the credit committee with all necessary accurate, thorough, and thoughtful supporting documentation.
  • Evaluating key financial metrics to include, but are not limited to, cash flow, debt service coverage, leverage, liquidity, collateral loan to values, risk analysis, etc.

You also bring the following skills and experience:

  • Four-year college degree in finance, accounting, business management, or closely related field.
  • One or more years of experience as a commercial underwriter or closely related position working with credit analysis of business and personal financials.
  • Must understand and underwrites appropriate cash flow analysis methods.
  • Sound working knowledge of accounting principles and financial statements.
  • Strong familiarity with financial concepts and analytical frameworks, including DSCR, cash flow, key performance indicators, etc.
  • Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Understands sources of repayment and can align with purpose and collateral to determine the appropriate path to analysis.
  • Ability to present analysis, recommendations, and solutions to internal commercial lending teammates.
  • Must be proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.).
