The Position

Our client is seeking to fill a Trust Associate role in the Chicago, IL market. The successful candidate will be performing land trust administration, trust operations support with daily disbursements and long-term projects, and investment services support.

The position offers a generous salary of up to $80K and a full benefits package. (This is not a remote position).

Trust Associate responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the trust department and investment services department in a variety of ways.
  • Engaging with customers, handling requests from start to finish; resolving issues in a timely manner while ensuring customers are well informed of the status of their requests and/or issues that may arise.
  • Conducting new land trust customer onboarding; including account set-up, monitoring receipt of pertinent account documentation as well as updating Land Trust as changes occur.
  • Prepare trust reports including, but not limited to, monitoring the status of land trusts that require renewal, closed accounts that require finalization, and the status of the litigation.
  • Preparing and tracking investment reviews, and asset allocations and coordinating review with Trust and Investment Services Administrators; ensuring required account information is collected and appropriately updated into the appropriate platform/s.
  • Preparing and delivering monthly invoices to customers for fees incurred on a timely basis.
  • Processing and responding to legal notices such as levies, garnishments, and subpoenas for both the land trust and the bank.
  • Posting payments to customer accounts.
  • Providing support to customers’ legal representatives in creating, maintaining, and completing the required land trust documents.
  • Developing and maintaining standard operating procedures.
  • Ensuring customer documents are maintained, accurate, and in compliance with the current retention policy.
  • Supporting internal, external, state, and FDIC audit requests.
  • Cross-training and supporting trust operations.

You also bring the following skills and experience:

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business law or legal studies.
  • Paralegal certification.
  • Three or more years of experience in any of these areas (Land Trust, Real Estate Closing Document Specialist, Real Estate Legal Assistant, or Paralegal).
  • Notary for the State of Illinois in good standing.
  • Enthusiastic, self-motivated individual with the ability to work in high-pressure, time-sensitive environments.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and customer service skills.
  • Proficient PC skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
